This week I have been on holidays. Monday I didn’t do much which turned out to be the flavour of the week, I did get to watch alot of the tennis though. Tuesday evening Dhillon arrived with his bag of clothes, ready to stay for the week. We cooked up some dinner and then made our way to Nunawading for the annual fireworks show. We arrived about 45 minutes before the big bang was due so we walked around the concert grounds. Dhillon decided he wanted a coffee so we lined up for aaages to get one for him. Once he was satisfied we made our way back to the footy oval and claimed our spot for the show. As always the fireworks were amazing. They set them off from the footy oval and you’re allowed to be as close as the fence line, so you are right underneath.
Wednesday Dhillon went to work and I pottered around home. I cooked up some pasta bake (his favourite) for dinner and we watched some tennis on TV.
Thursday I had lunch with Mele and Nathalie, friends from high school. I picked up Mele from her house and got to meet 2 of her 3 little kids who were absolutely adorable. She is also very pregnant with her 4th baby, another boy. She already has 2 boys and a girl! We met up with Nathalie at Sofia’s and spent a few hours catching up and stuffing our faces with food. In the afternoon, Kelly came to pick me up after she finished work and we drove into Jenny’s house in South Melbourne for dinner. We had a roast chicken and I made some potato salad. Once we had eaten we went to the local shop for an icecream. We left Jenny’s just after 9. It was nice to come home to Dhillon already in the house.
Friday I had to get some prescriptions filled so I walked to Chemist Warehouse in Ringwood. I must have got there during their rush hour as I spent almost 2 hours on the whole journey. Once Dhillon came home we drove all the way across town to Caroline Springs to his friend Pam’s house. His other friend Geri was also there and they had prepared lots of snacks and drinks for us. Dhillon has not caught up with Pam for a while so they were reminiscing about old times, but they all made me feel welcome and included so I had a really good night. Pam actually reminds me of my old high school friend Kalo so I felt quite at ease with them straight away. We left their house at midnight and got home just before 1am.
Yesterday I went to pick up Mum at the airport, she was returning home from Aunty Margaret’s house in South West Rocks. My usual way to the airport is along Bell St however traffic was backed up when I got to Coburg. Turns out someone had been hit by a train, he is still alive but police were diverting traffic which meant I had to get out the trusty GPS which took me some wonderful back way to the airport. By the time I got there mum had landed and collected her luggage and was able to meet me in the pick up zone so we didn’t have to worry about paying for parking. We decided to come home via Citylink to avoid the traffic jam. On the way back we stopped in for some pancakes at Doncaster Pancake Parlour. Dhillon spent the evening at Jimmy’s house with the boys. I had a bad sleep, not only because of the heat, but at 3am some guy was walking up and down the road screaming out swear words and other stuff I couldn’t understand. He went up the street once and then came back, knocking over my neighbour’s bins that were still on the street and scaring the crap out of me. It took me a little while to relax and get back to sleep.
Today once Dhillon arrived home we went to Doncaster to the Pandora shop where we purchased my birthday gift. I got a Pandora charm bracelet and 3 charms. A lot of the girls at work have them and it seems to be a bit of an obsession. I am going to try to hold back though and just collect charms as gifts rather than buying them for myself, it has more meaning that way. Once I had picked out my jewels we went upstairs to check out the movie session times. Nothing took our fancy so we made our way home. Dhillon has gone home now but will spend Thursday (my birthday), Friday (going to 20/20 cricket) and Saturday (my birthday drinks) nights here with me.
